The Japanese version 3G iPhone will make a shutter sound wherever a picture is taken, even in silent mode, it is supposed to deter voyeurs from taking dirty pictures up women’s’ skirts — or down their tops in a public place. This is nothing new for the nation because most of the cell phones come with this feature.

According to Nobuyuki Hayashi, a tech reporter based in Tokyo “the camera of the iPhone 3G sold in Japan will make a shutter sound every time you take a photo, even if you put the telephone in silent mode”. Read more at [ Gizmodo ]
